What do you like most about teaching for the Utah Safety Council?

The safety profession is full of challenges and rewards.  The most enjoyable part of my career is meeting, working with and helping all kinds of people to realize the importance of safety in their lives.  Teaching at the Utah Safety Council provides a wonderful opportunity to interact with amazing people to share experiences and information that can contribute to illuminating ideas and the promotion of timeless safety principles.  Helping people to understand why they want to work safe is a difficult, yet wonderful and rewarding challenge that never grows old.

Any interesting experiences you’ve had while teaching for the Utah Safety Council?

Each class taught comes with wonderful windows of opportunity to create lasting relationships with remarkable people that are trying to make a difference for the companies that they work for.  Lively discussions about various safety principles, federal and state safety regulations, and the reason why it is so important to persevere in championing the growth of successful safety programs always seem to be a benefit of each class.

Additional Safety Related Experience and Local Community Service:

Volunteer work for the city where I live to assist in the implementation of important OSHA regulations for the use, handling and proper storage of chemicals.  Service on local school boards to help with decisions relating to important safety and health issues. Leadership on local church councils to assist with development of emergency preparedness plans. Serving on local Boy Scout committees to help young men earn safety and emergency preparedness badges.

Hobbies and Interests:

I love to do things with my family.  Hiking, picnics, golfing, boating, movies, traveling to fun places together, etc.  Sharing all this with my best friend and sweetheart of 46 years is what life is really all about.

What do you like most about teaching for the Utah Safety Council?

It provides an opportunity to pass on a lot of safety information and Utah Driving Laws not generally known to the driving public.

Any interesting experiences you’ve had while teaching for the Utah Safety Council?

Dealing with an 80+ year old lady that has serious road rage issues to the point she was harassing 70+ year olds and making it her lot in life to “correct” everyone’s perceived driving inadequacies.

Additional Safety Related Experience
