Top Five Leading Causes of Unintentional Home Injury Deaths Together, these causes account for 90 percent of all unintentional home injury deaths. In 2008, Utah experienced 343 deaths from the top five leading causes. It is estimated that for every one fatality there are 600 injuries in the same cause category.
