About Us

For 80 years, the Utah Safety Council has been the devoting its efforts to "Making Utah a Safer Place to Live and Work". The Utah Safety Council was founded in 1936, and established as the Utah Traffic Safety Council in 1939. In 1945, the scope of the Council's programming extended to non-traffic areas. From 1951 to 2001, the Utah Safety Council also functioned as a division of the Utah Department of Public Safety. In 1956 the Utah Safety Council became a Chapter of the National Safety Council.

Throughout its history, the Utah Safety Council has continued to expand its programs and services to provide the latest training, Safety Media Library presentations, safety materials and other resources to business, industry and the community.

The Utah Safety Council is a membership-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We work hard in making all of our services available at the lowest possible rates. Our members include more than 900+ businesses and organizations throughout Utah and the Intermountain West.

Board of Directors governs the Utah Safety Council and employees handle all Utah Safety Council programs and services.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Utah Safety Council is to save lives by promoting safety and health through education, services, and products.

Chapter of the National Safety Council

Unintentional injuries and death can be avoided if people recognize the hazards and know the right way to do things. As the nation's leading safety advocate, the National Safety Council spotlights these issues, engaging businesses, government agencies, elected officials and the public to make an impact. As a local chapter of the National Safety Council, the Utah Safety Council supports these safety initiatives.
