Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager

Fetzer Architectural Wood Products

The EHS Manager will be responsible for all safety, health and environmental activities at the Fetzer facility and at various project sites. Core responsibility will include managing and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety program and ownership of the Environmental Health & Safety Management System. Responsible for establishing operational controls for employee health, safety and the environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan, direct, coordinate and budget activities associated with Environmental, Health and Safety.
• Formulate, review, interpret and implement policies, procedures, rules and regulations to meet the requirements set forth by OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT and other federal, state and local agencies governing the areas of manufacturing  standards.
• Obtain and maintain all necessary permits and licenses required for the company to do business.
• Answer all Environmental, Health and Safety questions posed by any federal, state or local agency that has jurisdiction over the companies' business.
• Promote awareness of the EHS policy and objectives at all levels of the organization (such as providing EHS training or any other necessary training, notify management of updates to standards and policies, benchmark with similar industries and communicates best practices).
• Survey, compile and analyze data related to risks. Perform job safety assessments and other EHS evaluations. Assess risk and make recommendations to control hazards.  Submit budget estimates for all job activities.
• Report on the EHS performance and the performance of the EHS Management System. Ensure that the EHS Management System requirements are established, audited, implemented and maintained.
• Implement all necessary safety requirements.
• Assist with maintaining electronic Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library for the company.
• Lead safety committee and be able to educate employees as necessary about

Environmental, Health and Safety policies and requirements.
• Lead the internal and external audit program at the facility and project sites.
• Perform incident management activities, including injury and incident management investigations and associated recordkeeping.

Qualifications:
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience required.
Personal/Technical Skills: Must have the following skills; Good analytical/statistical skills, ability to multi-task, good organizational skills and computer skills including Excel. Excellent written communications skills. Ability to train others effectively. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT and other federal, state and local agency regulations as they pertain to the industry.  Experience with Emissions Inventory and Method 9 readings. Must have the willingness to learn
continuously and improve skills.

Preferred Skills helpful but not required: CSP, CIH , OSHA certifications, EPA certifications, Experience with NFPA combustible dust standards. Experience with NFPA 70 E. Knowledge of 49 CFR 172.704. Knowledge of OHSMS ISO 45001 standards. Spanish as a second language.  People skills: Interpersonal skills for understanding: group process, meeting skills, how to build teams, effective coaching, how to resolve conflicts, and how to give effective feedback.

Working Conditions:
Will generally work normal scheduled hours. May be called upon to work outside of normal scheduled work hours on occasion. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., bend, kneel, twist, sit and stand all on a regular basis.  Occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, heat, cold, chemicals and odor.
