Public Services Safety Intern Seasonal
Salt Lake City Corporation

Under direction of the Public Services Safety Manager, incumbent supports safety programs and training for 385 FTE employees. Assists in developing training materials, evaluating workers compensation trends, and planning for emergency response.

This paid internship is designed to provide students with relevant professional experience to further their education and training. Positions will terminate upon completion of the internship period. Incumbents may deal with confidential information, which is expected to be maintained as confidential and shared only on a need-to-know basis with city employees and elsewhere when authorized by the intern’s city supervisor. Learn more

EHS Coordinator
Ultradent Products Inc.

  • Function as primarily responsible for workers compensation claim management.
  •  Communicate identified or reported EHS issues to the Safety Manager and assist in resolution of issues.
  • Champion employee involvement to identify and address safety concerns.
  • Actively participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative actions.
  • Define, develop, create, deliver, and track effective safety training for adult learning methods.
  • Participate in EHS audits, self-assessments, and inspections and ensure closure of corrective actions.
  • Effectively interact with internal customers and external agencies and resources.
  • Maintain and increase professional knowledge related to field of environmental, occupational health and safety.

Safety Specialist
Ultradent Products Inc.

Ultradent, a global name in oral health is seeking a dynamic Safety Specialist to join our Safety
Department.  This entry-level position will work alongside Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) 
Coordinators in the department in strengthening and supporting the safety program with an eye 
towards continuous improvement.  The responsibilities for this position include:

Key Responsibilities:
•    Assist in overseeing the safety of Ultradent and its employees
•    Recognize and evaluate internal safety and health hazards.
•    Assist in completing investigations for proper control in hazard mitigation
•    Assist in the creation and implementation of safety, health, and environmental programs, 
practices, and initiatives
•    Manage day-to-day safety inspections of emergency response systems, tools, and equipment
•    Liaison between the Safety Department and Team Leads, Line Leads, and employees
•    Conducts audits to ensure compliance with regulations
•    Recommend measure to control exposures (including substitution of less hazardous materials, 
engineering controls, modified work practices, and PPE)
•    Conduct and coordinate training with managers on safety programs
•    Be an active member of the facility emergency response team
•    Other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager

Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s Degree in occupational safety and health or related field.  In lieu of degree, 2- 3 
years direct occupational safety experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
•    Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
•    Service oriented approach and the ability to work well as a team
•    Technical writing skills
•    Presentation/training skills
•    CPR and First Aid training – preferred
