June is National Safety Month

Join NSC and thousands of organizations nationwide in celebrating National Safety Month.

Observed annually in June, National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road and in our homes and communities.

Week 1 (June 3-7): Safety Topic: Hazard Recognition

  • Event: Safety Swap Contest
  • Date: June 3-7, 2019. All entries must be turned in by June 10, 2019.
  • Details: Engage your employees with a Safety Swap Donut Contest. Click here for the hazard inspection form and rules. Winning teams will receive donuts hand delivered by a Utah Safety Council representative!


Week 2 (June 12): Safety Topic: Slips, Trips and Falls

  • Event: UOSH Local Emphasis Programs Seminar
  • Date & Time: Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 8am-9:30am.
  • Location: Utah Safety Council - 1574 West 1700 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84104
  • Details: Hear from UOSH Division DIrector, Cameron Ruppe, about the local emphasis programs statistics for the State of Utah. Breakfast will be served.

Week 3 (June 17): Safety Topic: Fatigue

  • Event: Utah Workplace Safety Week Kickoff and Distracted Driving Demonstration
  • Date & Time: Monday, June 17, 2019 from 9am-11am.
  • Location: WCF Insurance - 100 West Towne Ridge Parkway, Sandy, UT 84070
  • Details: Join us as we officially kickoff 2019's Workplace Safety Week. Hear from Sergeant Lawrence Hopper with the Utah Highway Patrol to talk about the dangers of distracted driving. Following the kickoff, you will be able to try a distracted driving simulation obstacle course on adult trikes.

  • Event: Tragic Effects of Impairment
  • Date & Time: Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 9am-10:30am.
  • Location: Utah Safety Council - 1574 West 1700 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84104
  • Details: Please join us to hear from Jan and Mike McMillian, who lost their 27-year-old-son, Michael W. McMillian, who was killed by an impaired wrong way driver.
