Breakfast Safety Seminars- Non-Member Registration

Come learn and discuss hot safety topics and trends in our monthly breakfast safety seminars! Each seminar will be presented and followed by a question and answer series with our safety experts. This is a great opportunity to network with others in your profession and to build your knowledge of regulatory standards and get real time feedback for challenging situations you may be facing in your workplace.

As part of the Utah Safety Council member benefits, these seminars are FREE for two people, per member organization, per seminar. Additional attendees from a member organization & non-members are just $10 each. 

May 30, 2019 - WorkAbility Centers - Avoiding Workplace Shoulder Injury -

This seminar will provide insight to attendees on the impact of shoulder and elbow injuries in the workplace with education on:

           -Kinesiology and physiology of the shoulder/elbow.

           - Common risk factors for shoulder/elbow injuries in the workplace

           -Common treatments for a shoulder/elbow injury

           -Safety measures to avoid workplace injuries

           -Review of shoulder/elbow specific stretch and flex program.

June 27, 2019 - Basic Principles of Fall Protection - This course offers an awareness of the issues involved with fall protection. A focus on the best practices in fall protection and the need to protect workers at height highlights this informative training course. Participants are introduced to the regulations and standards governing fall protection as well as the components of a fall protecti​on system​ including body support, anchorages, connectors and rescue.

August 28, 2019 -   Legislation is now in place permitting individuals with a qualifying medical condition to use medicinal cannabis in Utah. As some of these individuals may also be employees, employers must prepare by understanding the law and its protections. Employers must also recognize how and when medicinal cannabis will invoke the protection of other federal and state employment laws. Ryan D. Nelson, Utah President of Employers Council, will discuss how employers can effectively prepare for this new reality in business.  

September 30, 2019 - WorkAbility Centers - Workplace Flex & Stretch Programs -

Flex and Stretch Training Seminar Summary:

This seminar will help attendees recognize and implement the need for a stretch and flex safety program by:

-Discussing the purpose of a stretch and flex program

-Reviewing recent literature supporting the benefits of these programs

-Discussing how to create an individualized stretch and flex program 

-Discussing tips for introducing a program into workplace practices, and,

-Reviewing some sample flex and stretch programs.
